A New Era

SEPTEMBER 9, 2024

My studio is a mess. Twenty four years of paintings are everywhere. Some are good, some are mediocre at best, in my opinion. I saw a painting inspired by a model drawing class with a wide arrange of colors. It is semi-abstract but with a distinct recognition in the female curves. Not having had the chance to critically look at it for years, I was able to see it with fresh eyes. The curves were not 100% perfect. Just when I thought I saw why this painting could be better, a woman and her husband bought it.

This is why I want people to see what I have before I will re-use the material. Not quite ready yet for the final overview, I hope you are eager to see what is in Pandora’s box. You will get a link to the website today or tomorrow and will be able to zip through the paintings. The sale, on-line and in the studio will go on until Sunday 27th of October. Pricing ranges between $2000 and $300. The original works will be sent to your home, rolled up in a tube. You can pay through Venmo and visit your local framer to re-stretch it and/or frame it.

There are two Second Saturday Openings, which means there are more people coming by and the trolley will bring clients to all the studio’s. After that I will cut up most of the large works to make smaller, more abstract paintings. The largest scale will be 36” x 48”. I am inspired by Lita Cabellut and the North Carolina landscape.

During this process of selling old works I will be working on a commission of a tropical scene based upon the painting ‘Winter Garden’. Looking very much forward to the process of painting this work I can dream of the tropics. I actually made one of my most popular works ‘Dreamweaver’ while the snow was piling up on my windowsill in Indianapolis. May be it will work better not having too much realistic images close by.
