Change

AUGUST 27, 2024

Wanting to change isn’t enough. Knowing how to change isn’t enough. There are many reasons change is hard, notwithstanding that it takes a lot of energy for the brain to do something differently, so it’s not going to do it without a lot of structure around it. For it to work, your why has to be authentic, and I think sometimes people don’t get to their real motivation. Change is necessary for growth.

Changing from one country to another is fun as long as it is vacation. On vacation you can enjoy different horizons, cultures and foods. In the back of your head you know where home is. You know that whatever will happen, there is a place somewhere in the world where you will be safe. At one point in time you will go back and put your head on your own pillow. That is why you can endure unfamiliar noises of the night.

In order to tolerate change I know I will feel distressed and uncomfortable. It is like being an acrobat on a trapeze moving from one to another handlebar. For a split second I will be in mid air with nothing to hold on to. I need the confidence to move on with what’s important, and that is to grab the next bar. Hundred percent focus is the only thing that will get me there. There is no room for doubt and fear.

Yesterday I established my new residency in North Carolina after having lived thirteen years in Florida. This change came faster then I had planned due to a car accident a couple of weeks ago in which my car was totaled.

Because I was forced to buy a new car and have a new license plate I needed a new proof of residency in North Carolina. During the last few weeks I felt I needed all my focus for this change. With the help of a friend I moved my stuff over nine hundred miles and I waited five hours for my new drivers license. My focus was to grab a more balanced life among other artists in a safe moderate climate.
